NEOM is a planned region in northwest Saudi Arabia, built around new ways of living and working. Alongside its digital platform, NEOM needed film: for the website, for investment conferences and for its wider story. From DDB Amsterdam, we led content development for the programme from 2017 to 2020.
OBJECTIVE
NEOM had to be told before it could be seen. The films had to make an ambitious, still largely invisible vision feel real and credible, for an audience of investors, partners and future talent. Every story had to work in both English and Arabic.
EXECUTION
We handled the full process: strategy, concept, production and editing. The work included films for each sector, from sport and health to water and heritage. We also created a film for a major investment conference, an interactive manifesto and interviews with the people behind NEOM.
The pace was relentless. On average, each production had two weeks from brief to delivery, in two languages. Conference dates were fixed, so deadlines could not move. Each sector also had its own experts, audiences and visual language, while the whole had to feel like one NEOM.
RESULT
36 films delivered in English and Arabic, across sectors as different as sport, health, water and heritage, with every conference deadline met.
