After joining Asahi, Grolsch appointed Wunderman Amsterdam as its global digital agency. One of the first projects was a new international website, grolsch.com. It had to serve key markets like the United Kingdom, Canada, France and Argentina, working alongside local agencies in each country.
OBJECTIVE
Grolsch wanted one strong, consistent digital home for the brand worldwide. A place that told the story of Grolsch, showcased its beers and supported its campaigns, while leaving room for local markets to make it their own.
EXECUTION
The new grolsch.com was built around the brand story. Instead of a classic scrolling page, visitors travelled through it sideways. A horizontal parallax experience took them from Grolsch’s roots in 1615 to the brand it is today, with layers of imagery moving at different speeds to give the story depth.
Because the site served markets around the world, it had to work for every visitor. An age gate made sure only adults of legal drinking age could enter. A country selector led visitors to the right market. And the site was fully multilingual, so each country could tell the Grolsch story in its own language.
